Grab the umbrella! More rain is on the way this week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Get those umbrellas ready! Rain chances continue through your week.

Monday morning should start off mostly dry with just a few streamer showers moving in from the Gulf. By the afternoon, a few scattered showers and storms will be possible, but the better chance for rain comes in the evening.

A front is expected to slowly creep to the south and as it does, we should see a broken line of showers and storms form. This should then move south. One of the biggest questions is how long this line will hold together. Our northern counties will have the best chance of rain and those rain chances will decrease as you head south. Houston will have a 60% chance of rain Monday evening.

We will also have to watch out for flooding as some of these storms could move slowly… dropping a lot of rain very quickly. Rain chances increase on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Temperatures will manage to warm from the mid 70s to the low 90s Monday.

What’s this I hear about even more rain this week?

A low-pressure system is forecast to sit and spin over Texas for most of the week. This system has the potential to bring widespread drought-relieving rains to Texas. Several inches of rain are possible over the week, so river flooding will be possible, especially in the eastern half of Texas. The highest rain totals are expected in North Texas, but a respectable 2″-5″ will be widespread in Southeast Texas, with the higher totals north of I-10.
