Here’s how long you have to enjoy the slight humidity drop in Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — It doesn’t exactly feel like fall, but you may have noticed a slight drop in the humidity behind Sunday’s front. Most of us will get to enjoy it for a couple more days before summer’s humidity returns along with a chance for scattered afternoon downpours.

For Tuesday the air will be driest north and east of downtown Houston. That’s where temperatures will dip into the upper 60s prior to sunrise. Elsewhere it will only drop into the low 70s. Sunshine will still warm temperatures to the low 90s in the afternoon, but the slightly drier air will linger around most of Southeast Texas. Southwest of Houston there will be enough moisture for a stray shower or thunderstorm to pop up in the afternoon.

An Ozone Pollution Watch is in effect Tuesday afternoon, and the ragweed, grass, and mold counts are all high.

How long does the dry air stick around?

Most of us will feel the dry air through Thursday morning, then the Gulf moisture surges back in. By Friday it’s all gone. Wednesday will be the driest day with the lowest relative humidity in the afternoon as dew points drop into the 50s.

What does the weather look like for the weekend?

Summer’s humidity will be back and along with it comes a chance for showers and thunderstorms. Temperatures will start in the low-to-mid 70s and warm into the low 90s each afternoon. As temperatures climb toward 90, scattered showers and thunderstorms will pop up with the highest rain chance south of I-10. There’s no need to cancel any outdoor plans, but be prepared to run for cover should you cross paths with a thunderstorm. Your chance of rain both days is 30%.
