Wylie ISD 5th-grade teacher killed in murder-suicide, police say

A Collin County fifth-grade teacher was killed Sunday night in a murder-suicide, according to the Josephine Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of gunfire at a home in the 700 block of Mallard Street about 8:10 p.m. and discovered the bodies of 41-year-old Lacie Moore and her husband, 37-year-old Brian Moore.

Police said Tuesday that Lacie Moore was the victim in the shooting.

Lacie Moore, who worked at Davis Intermediate School in the Wylie ISD, is survived by three children, according to a GoFundMe account created to help offset the funeral costs and other family needs.

“She was always a light to every child she interacted with,” the page says. “She made learning fun, and provided her students a safe place to be themselves.”

A vigil is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Davis Intermediate School, with candles expected to be lit about 7:45 p.m.
