Former Cowboys cornerback arrested in Collin County, records show

A former defensive player for the Dallas Cowboys was arrested in Collin County Thursday, according to online jail records.

Collin County jail website showed that Brandon Carey Carr, 36, a 14-year NFL veteran who spent two different stints with the Cowboys, was arrested Thursday and released later that same day.

Online records did not show Carr’s charges or his bail information. The Collin County sheriff’s office did not immediately return a request for comment.

After spending the first four years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs, Carr signed a five-year, $50 million deal with the Cowboys as one of the most coveted free agents of the 2012 offseason.

The cornerback spent the next five seasons with the Cowboys, where he started every game but only had four combined interceptions over the course of that five-year span (80 regular season games).

When his contract expired in the offseason leading up to the 2017 season and he didn’t receive an offer to return to the Cowboys, Carr then signed a four-year deal with the Baltimore Ravens.

After playing three of those four seasons, the Ravens declined the fourth year of his contract and he became a free agent.

Carr then briefly returned to the Cowboys for the 2020 season, but after going back and forth between the practice squad and the active roster for the first month of the season, Carr was released in early August.

From the time he was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2008 NFL Draft to his final season for the Baltimore Ravens in 2019, Carr started 192 consecutive games, trailing only San Diego Chargers QB Phillip Rivers during that span.
