Dallas ISD student shot across the street from Spruce High School by someone in a car

A student was shot Tuesday afternoon near H. Grady Spruce High School in Pleasant Grove, according to police.

Police said a boy was shot by someone who was in a car, and that the suspect has not been identified. The student, whose name has not been released by authorities, was taken to the hospital and was in stable condition Tuesday evening, police said.

The shooting was within a few miles of two vehicle shootings over the weekend. Friday evening, about a mile from Spruce High School, a motorist shot into a car driving on C.F. Hawn Freeway and hit a teenage boy, who was taken to the hospital. Then early Saturday morning, in a separate incident along the same stretch of highway, a man died after someone in another vehicle shot him.

Across from Spruce on Tuesday, at around 4:30 p.m. officers were dispatched in response to a shooting in the 9700 block of Old Seagoville, across the street from the high school, police said.

Robyn Harris, a Dallas ISD spokeswoman, told The Dallas Morning News the incident occurred off-campus, and confirmed that a student from the district had been shot.

She said the district is providing support to the victim and family, and that families of other students have been notified of the incident. There were no threats inside the high school campus, she said.
