Highway 288 at MacGregor back open after shutdown due to low-hanging power lines

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 288 at MacGregor reopened Thursday morning after low-hanging power lines forced the road’s closure.

The issue occurred Wednesday night.

Houston Transtar cameras showed traffic along the highway heavily backed up while Centerpoint crews worked throughout the night to fix the issue.

At one point our newsroom saw people driving the wrong way on the freeway to escape the massive traffic jam.
