Weak front arrives early Saturday morning

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Drought conditions continue to build over Southeast Texas. The weak cool front passing by early Saturday morning is not expected to produce any significant rain.

Dry air behind the front will clear our skies allowing temps to reach towards 90. Our humidity levels will be low though.

Ragweed pollen will remain extremely high for the time being.

What’s the forecast for the weekend?

The weekend looks very dry with plenty of sunshine. Morning lows will dip into the lower and middle 60s while highs still top out around 90. It will feel warm during the afternoon, but the relative humidity will continue to bottom out around 25%.

What are the chances we get some rain next week?

We’ve raised rain chances next week to the 30%-40% range Wednesday into Thursday. We still expect another cool front to blow in on Thursday, but we’re unsure how much tropical moisture it will have to work with. This will hinge on what happens with the tropical system currently moving through the Caribbean.

What’s happening in the tropics?

Tropical Storm Julia has formed and is likely to become a hurricane before reaching Central America this weekend. There is a chance some of its tropical moisture could eventually get into the southwest Gulf of Mexico and head to Texas. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
