Two people on Texas’ most wanted fugitive list arrested out of state

Two people on Texas’ Top 10 most-wanted fugitive list were arrested in the last month with the help of authorities in Iowa and Louisiana.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) said Braeion Joseph Henderson, 37, was arrested in New Orleans on Sept. 30. Henderson had evaded arrest since November 2020, when the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for his arrest for failing to comply with sex-offender registration requirements.

According to authorities, Harris County Sheriff’s Office also issued a warrant for Henderson’s arrest in February 2022 on a charge of aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon.

DPS said in a press release its special agents were assisted by U.S. Marshals New Orleans and the North Texas Fugitive Task Force in Henderson’s arrest.

Henderson, of Rowlett, was convicted in 2009 of aggravated promotion of prostitution, authorities said, and two counts of compelling prostitution under the age of 18 in incidents involving a 14-year old girl.

He was given multiple three-year sentences to be served concurrently, DPS said.

Henderson is being held on bond of $250,000 in the OJC Orleans Justice Center.

Paul Anthony Basaldua, 35, was arrested In Council Bluffs, Iowa, on Oct. 6. McAllen police issued a warrant for his arrest on a charge of aggravated sexual assault in August 2021, authorities said

Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office also issued warrants for his arrest on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and indecency with a child by sexual contact in July.

DPS said Basaldua’s arrest was coordinated by the Council Bluffs Police Department, U.S. Marshals Southern Iowa and Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Fugitive Task Force and DPS agents.

Basaldua was convicted in 2009 for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and sentenced to 37 months in federal prison, according to authorities.

He also was convicted in 2012 for burglary and in 2017 for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Basaldua is listed as being held without bond in Pottawattamie County jail in Iowa.
