Miss Thursday’s rain? A higher rain chance is coming

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Strong thunderstorms rumbled across parts of Southeast Texas Thursday, mostly missing the city of Houston. If you were hoping to get some free water from the sky, take heart. Higher chances are in the forecast beginning Sunday afternoon and lasting through Monday.

As the front pushes deeper into the Gulf of Mexico overnight, you can expect a drop in the humidity for Friday morning. Temperatures will start off in the 50s and 60s around sunrise with highs pushing back into the upper 80s. It should be mostly sunny for most of the day.

Ragweed pollen remains extremely high and will likely remain there until we can get some widespread rain to help wash the pollen away.

What are we expecting for the weekend?

On Saturday the Gulf breeze will push sticky air back into Houston, but it should stay mostly dry. Temperatures will start off in the mid 60s and warm to near 90 in the afternoon. Sunday brings back a chance for scattered thunderstorms as a stronger cold front pushes into Texas. It should be mostly for the morning, then expect rain chances to climb through the afternoon and evening.

How cool will it get behind this front?

Once the clouds and rain clear out behind the front, we should enjoy some delightful fall days with highs in the 70s and lows in the 50s! We now also predict at least two mornings with a low in the 40s. The last time Houston recorded a low in the 40s was April 9th.
