Feels like summer this weekend but fall is coming next week

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Our coldest weather since early April is on the way next week. Keep that in mind while you’re sweating it out in 90-degree heat this weekend.

Another warm day is coming up for Sunday but we could see a few cooling downpours. Gulf moisture will continue to stream in which could bring some streamer showers to the coast in the morning and a few showers in the afternoon farther inland. Late Sunday, a strong cold front will start to move into our northern counties increasing rain chances.

What can we expect from the weather on Sunday?

More heat, more humidity, and a slight chance you’ll come across a scattered shower. It’ll feel a little more balmy in the morning with lows only in the 70s. Temperatures will again warm to near 90 in the afternoon, but help is on the way. A stronger cold front will push into our northern counties during the evening, increasing rain chances from 30% in the afternoon to 60% overnight.

How will this front impact our weather after the weekend?

The front will bring widespread clouds and showers for Monday, especially in the morning. Rainfall accumulations will likely end up less than half an inch for most, but some fortunate neighborhoods could pick up over 1″ of rain. Temperatures will hover in the 70s all day Monday under the clouds.

How cool will it get behind this front?

Once the clouds and rain clear out behind the front, we should enjoy some delightful fall days with highs in the 60s and 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s! The last time Houston recorded a low in the 40s was April 9th.

What’s happening in the tropics?
