PHF confident about getting NOC for Azlan Shah Cup

LAHORE: The Pakistan Hockey Federation seems confident that it will be issued No-Objection Certificate from the Pakistan Sports Board by next week to ensure the participation of the national team at next month’s Azlan Shah Cup in Malaysia.

The PHF has been in a tussle with the country’s sports regulatory body over holding elections in August this year in which retired Brig Khalid Sajjad Khokhar was re-elected president.

On Saturday, Khokhar presided over PHF’s executive committee meeting where the preparations of the national team were discussed as well as the issue of getting NOC. “We are expecting the issuance of the NOC by the PSB in the coming week and that is not an issue,” an executive committee member told Dawn.

A PHF news release said that secretary Haider Hussain briefed the committee about the financial affairs of the PHF while four committees — including disciplinary and competitions — were formed.
