Allen, H-E-B form partnership for intersection improvements

To help with anticipated traffic when a new H-E-B store opens, the Allen City Council on Oct. 11 approved a partnership agreement with grocery store chain to expand the intersection of Exchange Parkway and Greenville Avenue.

The city said in a news release that future projected growth in the area prompted it to propose the cost-sharing partnership with H-E-B for additional turn lanes at Greenville and Exchange Parkway.

The work is expected to be complete before the opening of the H-E-B store late summer 2023.

At the chain’s first Dallas-Fort Worth H-E-B store, on the northeast corner of Main Street and Legacy Drive in Frisco, at least 1,500 people were in line before doors opened on the first day.
