Here’s why you’ll want to dress in layers Thursday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Our official low temperature at George Bush Intercontinental Airport Wednesday morning was 42 degrees, and it will be just about as cold Thursday morning.

Temperatures out the door Thursday morning will be in the low-to-mid 40s at sunrise. Abundant sunshine and a southwest wind will warm temperatures into the low 80s during the afternoon, so dress in layers! The air will be so dry some might even find it uncomfortable. If you are prone to chapped lips and dry skin, you might consider having moisturizer on hand.

How does the weekend look?

It looks really nice! Saturday will be just about perfect with ideal humidity. You can expect a morning low in the low 60s and a high in the mid 80s under a partly cloudy sky. Sunday you’ll feel the sticky air as the Gulf breeze picks up from the south at 15-25 miles per hour. Temperatures will start off in the upper 60s and warm back into the mid 80s under a partly cloudy sky.

When is our next chance for rain?

After the weekend we’re eyeing a cool front and a Pacific storm that will combine forces to bring a chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms. The timing is still uncertain as to when these elements will come together, but we think it will occur between Monday and Wednesday with Tuesday the most likely day for rainfall at this time.

What’s happening in the tropics?

No new tropical development is expected in the Atlantic over the next five days, but we’re eyeing a developing storm in the Pacific that could bring rain to us early next week. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
