Sunshine returns Sunday, two rainy systems on the way

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — After a cool, cloudy Saturday, sunshine returns Sunday.

Temperatures overnight will bottom out in the low-to-mid 50s, which is on par for late October. Sunshine will break through in a big way allowing temperatures to warm into the mid 70s during the afternoon.

What can we expect for Halloween?

Some high clouds will return during the day, but rain should hold off until after trick-or-treat time for most. Afternoon temps will make it to the upper 70s. Evening temps will settle into the middle 60s.

When will we have rain chances in the new week?

Rain chances will return Monday night and climb to 60% by Tuesday. This passing weather disturbance will bring most of its rain during the morning with the highest accumulations in our coastal counties. Our next best opportunity for rain comes next weekend when a large upper-level low slowly passes by Texas. The timing of that disturbance and its highest thunderstorm chance is uncertain, so keep tabs on our forecast through the week if you have outdoor plans for Friday, Saturday, or Sunday.

What’s happening in the tropics?

A disturbance is brewing in the Caribbean and has a high chance for development over the next five days. For the very latest check out our daily tropical update.
