Statewide early voting participation tops 2.5 million voters in opening week

More than 2.5 million Texans have voted early so far in the midterm election.

Early voting for the Nov. 8 election began Monday and will run through Nov. 4.

Texas was the first state in the country to offer early voting, according to the secretary of state’s website. And as long as you registered to vote by Oct. 11, you can also get your voting done early — and potentially avoid long lines come Election Day.

Here’s what voter turnout looks like at the polls at Dallas-area counties, according to information provided by county election officials:

Here’s how many people have voted so far via mail-in ballot and in person, along with a comparison to the number of registered voters:

Dallas County: 175,171, 12.3%

Tarrant County: 172,617, 13.7%

Collin County: 109,749, 15.8%

Denton County: 97,094, 16.0%

Statewide: 2,504,916, 14.2%
