Near-freezing temperatures possible Saturday night in Dallas and Fort Worth

The cold front that forced the cancellation of Friday’s Veteran’s Day Parade in downtown Dallas will stick around for the weekend. Although sunny, be ready to bundle up.

Saturday should bring sunny skies during the day but will remain chilly in the mid 50s with brisk winds from the north.

Temperatures are expected to drop Saturday night into Sunday morning to the low 30s. The Dallas-Fort worth area is expected to see low temperatures of 34 degrees, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The cold weather comes after temperatures reached the 80s on Wednesday and Thursday.

A freeze warning is in place tonight from 3 a.m. – 8 a.m. in counties to the west and northwest, including Denton County. The weather service recommended insulating outdoor plumbing and bringing plants indoors.

The city of Dallas – which implements its Inclement Weather Initiative in certain cold weather conditions to bring unhoused residents to emergency overnight shelters – told The Dallas Morning News it is monitoring the current outlooks.

Dallas public library branches and recreation centers serve as warming stations during regular day time operating hours.

Cooler weather is expected to continue throughout next week.

A high chance of rain remains for Monday. The remainder of the week will see highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s.
