Rain tapers off Tuesday but returns for Thanksgiving

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Rain will gradually taper off Tuesday morning, but we’re increasing rain chances again for Thanksgiving Day.

Temperatures will hold steady in the mid 40s through sunrise Tuesday as clouds hold firmly overhead. The light showers will gradually thin out through the morning commute. Roads may still be damp for the morning drive, so take it easy.

A little sunshine will break through the clouds during the afternoon allowing highs to top out in the upper 50s. Isolated showers are possible anytime during the day.

How bad will the weather be for Thanksgiving?

We’re still trying to get a handle on how much rain will fall and how strong the storms could get, but at a minimum prepare for any outdoor plans to be impacted by rain. A powerful upper low will dive down from Canada then try to break off from the jet stream. That means it will only slowly push through Texas, extending rain chances into Friday, too.

Will the weekend at least be dry?

That’s our prediction for now, but if the upper low slows down enough, some rain could linger into Saturday, too. At this time we predict sunshine for both days with cold mornings in the 40s and mild highs in the upper 60s Saturday and mid 70s Sunday.
