30-year-old woman arrested in connection with fatal hit-and-run in Lake Worth, police say

A 30-year-old woman was arrested Monday afternoon in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Lake Worth over the weekend, police said.

Shortly after 2 a.m. on Saturday, officers were dispatched to the 4200 block of Boat Club Road in response to a crash involving a pedestrian, according to police.

Officers found a woman, later identified as Andrea Hendrickson, 42, on the southbound side of the road with injuries appeared to be from being struck by a vehicle. Hendrickson died on the way to the hospital, police said.

Police said Hendrickson is believed to have been on the road for about 45 minutes before authorities were notified of the crash.

Investigators believed that a blue-colored Chevrolet Equinox struck Hendrickson, and found a vehicle that matched the description at a home less than a mile north of where the crash occurred. The vehicle had damage to the front passenger side, according to police.

Inside the home, officers found Zenaida Gonzalez, who admitted to being involved in the fatal crash, police said. She was arrested and is facing a failure to stop and render aid, and an accident involving death charge.

“I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to Andrea’s family, friends and loved ones,” Lake Worth Police Chief J.T. Manoushagian said in a written statement.
