2 dead after wrong-way crash on Bush Turnpike in Rowlett

Two people are dead after a pickup going the wrong direction on the Bush Turnpike struck another vehicle early Tuesday in Rowlett.

Shortly before 12:20 a.m., a 1993 Nissan pickup was driving north on the southbound lanes of the tollway near Lakeview Parkway when it hit a 2013 Nissan Altima head-on, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.

Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

Authorities are still investigating, and the identities of the drivers will not be released until their next of kin is notified, authorities said.
