16-foot python stolen in Austin returned to its Dallas owner

A 16-foot python that was stolen from in Austin has been returned to its home in Dallas, according to the Austin Animal Center.

The owner, who was not named in the Austin Animal Center’s Facebook post or in a CBS News report, said his car was broken into in Austin several months ago, and that a large bag that was carrying the reptile was stolen. The owner is from Dallas, according to the Facebook post.

The snake had been spotted in an Austin neighborhood since July, the report stated. Residents from the neighborhood contacted the Austin Animal Center about the albino reticulated python.

The Austin Zoo kept the snake until the owner picked it up.
