Man, juvenile in custody after shootings of 2 on Christmas morning, Plano police say

A 20-year-old man and a juvenile were arrested Sunday for their roles in a Christmas morning shooting that left two people injured at a Plano home.

Officers arrived at the home in the 3100 block of Kingston Drive about 4 a.m. after neighbors reported hearing gunshots then a vehicle driving away, police said. The officers found two victims with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries at the home.

After a brief food chase, Plano police arrested Jose Mendez of Garland and took the juvenile into custody about 2:40 p.m. in Dallas County. Both face two counts each of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Mendez was booked into the Collin County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail; it was unclear if he had an attorney.

The investigation is ongoing.
