Dry weekend. Foggy Saturday morning and New Year’s Eve night.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Dry weather is likely Saturday morning with clearing skies. Areas of dense fog has developed across southeast Texas. A Dense Fog Advisory in effect for until 9 am.

The holiday weekend looks fairly warm, but we may see some smoke from fireworks combine with fog to reduce visibilities and air quality Saturday night and Sunday morning. The next significant rain and storm chance is Monday.

How is travel weather around Texas this weekend?

Not too bad. Dry weather is likely in most of Texas this weekend.

What is the forecast for New Year’s weekend?

New Year’s Eve looks to bring the best weather we’ve got left in 2022! Lows will be in the 50s with highs in the 70s. We expect a dry start to the New Year at the stroke of midnight with temperatures in the upper 50s. Smoke from fireworks and fog may hang around Saturday night. New Year’s Day may see partly to mostly cloudy skies, but with highs in the 70s. Clouds will increase Sunday due to a Pacific storm system that should bring back widespread showers and thunderstorms for Monday, January 2nd.

How is the weather for fireworks on NYE?

Dry, though not perfect. We could see increasing fog which may limit visibility, especially south of I-10. There’s also the potential for some air quality concerns after the fireworks as smoke and air pollutants could linger near the ground into Sunday morning.

Could there be any severe weather or flash flooding in Monday’s storms?

Flash flooding is not a big threat for Monday. However, there is a risk for a few severe thunderstorms in Southeast Texas. Heavier rainfall may stay just east of the area and into Louisiana.
