Truck driver dies after crashing through concrete barrier on I-45 in Dallas County

A truck driver died Thursday morning in a crash on Interstate 45 in southern Dallas County.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m., Dallas County sheriff’s deputies responded to a major crash on the southbound lanes of I-45, just south of Malloy Bridge Road near Ferris, authorities said.

A UPS truck that was pulling two trailers veered off the road and crashed through a concrete bridge barrier and landed in a creek below, the sheriff’s office said. Dallas Fire-Rescue aided in recovery efforts.

The driver of the semi, who has not been identified, died. No one else was injured, the sheriff’s department said.

Two southbound lanes of the highway remained closed into Thursday afternoon because of cleanup efforts, which were expected to last a few hours, according to the sheriff’s department. The entry ramp from Malloy Bridge Road is also closed to traffic.
