Breezy and warmer Sunday. More clouds.

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Sunday will be a warmer and more breezy day. Temperatures will reach the 70s by afternoon but winds may gust to around 30 mph during the afternoon. Clouds will increase and there is a small chance for a sprinkle. Expect a small chance for a light shower for Martin Luther King Day on Monday.

Will sunshine return Sunday?

Clouds may fill the majority of the sky Sunday. Some sun may break through at times.

What’s the outlook for weather during the Chevron Houston Marathon?

It’s nice for spectators, but a bit warmer than an elite marathon runner would prefer. The weather looks to be rain-free with a cool start to the race. Temperatures the morning of the marathon are expected to be in the lower to middle 50s near the start of the run Sunday. Winds may be around 10-15 mph early in the marathon, but increase by midday.

Is there rain in the forecast for MLK Day?

Yes, but only sprinkles or a very light shower. We’ll see about a 20% chance of rain Monday. Rain chances are much higher Wednesday with a cold front arriving. We’ll have to track the chance for a strong or severe storm Wednesday.
