Frost possible this morning, rain returns this weekend

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Temperatures are starting off cold this morning, mostly in the 30s with a handful of reading in the 20s north of Houston.

Some might be waking up to a heavy frost. The frost will be thickest where the highest rainfall totals accumulated on Tuesday. About half a foot of rain fell in a band stretching from Waller County through Harris County and into Montgomery County.

Clouds will return Friday ahead of a warm front arriving Saturday. Those clouds will trap chilly temperatures in the upper 50s for Friday afternoon. The sky will become completely overcast during the afternoon, but no rain is expected at this time until Saturday.

What’s in store for the weekend?

A warm front will blow in on Saturday, bringing an overcast sky and scattered rain showers. Temperatures will warm from the 50s into the 60s. Sunday will warm up even more into the 70s, but a cold front arriving late Sunday will bring back the chilly air for Monday. A passing weather disturbance will bring showers and thunderstorms from late Saturday night to Sunday afternoon.
