A big temperature drop Thursday morning, even colder weather on the way

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Temperatures continue to drop Thursday morning behind a cold front.

You’ll want to dress warmly for the morning as temperatures out the door will be in the 40s. Get ready for a stunning, sunny afternoon! Temperatures will pop to near 70 degrees with a light southwesterly wind.

Another cold front will blow in Thursday night, and this will bring even colder weather along with a strong breeze Friday.

What can we expect for the weekend?

It will be rather chilly this weekend! Temperatures Saturday morning will drop into the mid 30s with the wind pushing the “feels like” temp into the upper 20s. Sunshine will warm things into the mid 50s. Once the sun sets, temperatures will quickly drop to near freezing, and it could be a frosty start to the day. Clouds will be on the increase Sunday as our next weather system approaches, but highs will still manage to reach into the low 60s.

Are more freezing temperatures possible?

Absolutely. After the potential for freezing temperatures this weekend, we’re seeing a growing signal for another strong cold front to arrive late next week, and this one could tap into some arctic air. Winter is not done with us yet!

What’s the early outlook for Valentine’s Day?

Our confidence is increasing that a strong Pacific storm system will push the state on Valentine’s Day. If the main wave of thunderstorms arrives in the afternoon, then severe weather, including tornadoes, will be possible. If it arrives in the morning, then the primary concern will be street flooding.
