A cold and windy Thursday in North Texas, followed by near-freezing lows

A strong cold front will bring some thunderstorms to North Texas Wednesday evening followed by colder weather.

Storms will initially form to the northwest of DFW and then develop into a broken line of storms as they approach the metroplex. Not everyone will see storms, but those that do could briefly experience severe weather. The severe threat includes the possibility of large hail and damaging winds. The tornado threat is low, but can’t be ruled out.

Storm chances will push out overnight as a cold front slides in from the west. Colder weather will return Thursday with a high back down in the 40s. A strong north wind will accompany the colder weather.

Dry weather will return for the weekend, with a warming trend Sunday into next week.
