Morning showers and storms, then windy and sunny

A powerful storm system is bearing down on North Texas this Wednesday morning. Brief showers and thunderstorms will roll through with a threat for damaging winds and hail early this morning. The line of storms will quickly depart to the east by mid-morning.

Strong winds are expected to remain in the wake of the departing rain chances. Winds will gust to near 40 mph today with sunshine for much of the day.

A cold front will lead to slightly cooler temperatures on Thursday and especially Friday. This front will stall and returns to the area by the weekend. Disturbances moving across North Texas will provide for rain chances Friday through the weekend.
