A cool front slips into part of Houston tonight

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A front stalled over Southeast Texas is separating winter’s cold from spring-like warmth. The front is expected to drop south into parts of Houston overnight, but it should quickly move north Saturday afternoon keeping most neighborhoods in the soupy air. Rain chances will be low at 20%, but sprinkles and mist are possible, especially in the morning.

How is the weather looking this weekend for the Downtown Rodeo Parade?

Warmer than normal! There might be some fog in spots in the morning and a very small chance for a sprinkle. Temperatures when the parade starts at 10:00 a.m. Saturday should already be in the upper 60s or low 70s with high humidity. Winds should stay under 15 mph.

How long does this muggy air stick around?

Most of us will remain in the humid air through the weekend. A Pacific cool front arriving Monday morning will lower the humidity by Monday afternoon, and that lovely air will stick around through Tuesday.

Are we done with freezing weather?

We still see signs that much colder air could return to Texas in March just before Spring Break, and it is possible freezing temperatures could make it all the way to Houston. If you already put plants in the ground or are planning to do so soon, just be prepared for the possibility that you’ll need to protect them from a freeze or frost sometime in March.
