Man found dead in middle of Fort Bend County neighborhood crosswalk, police say

FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man is dead after a shooting in the Briargate community, according to Houston police.

Officers responded to 16099 Blue Ridge Road at about 3:20 p.m. on Tuesday after reports of a shooting.

Police said the man was found in the middle of the street with multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead.

Margaret Jordan said she was home when she heard four to five gunshots. By the time she made it outside and called 911, she said the shooter was gone.

“I’m concerned. I’m very concerned. I’ve been here 22 years and never, never have seen anything like this,” Jordan said.

Officers said they don’t have details regarding a suspect right now, but they are canvassing the area and looking for witnesses. At this time, it’s unclear what led to the shooting. Investigators encouraged people in the area to remain vigilant, though they did not believe the shooting was random.
