Weekend weather winner, major cool down coming for Spring Break

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — This weekend’s weather looks stunning, but a major pattern change looks to bring a major cool down for the first weekend of Spring Break.

A clear sky, light winds, and dry air overnight will push low temperatures into the 40s across most of Southeast Texas. It won’t stay cold for long after sunrise. Temperatures will warm into the 60s by 9 a.m., the 70s by noon, and peak in the upper 70s around 3 p.m.

And what about the rest of the weekend?

Sunday looks just as nice, albeit a few degrees warmer. Lows will bottom around 50 with highs near 80 under a sunny sky. The only problem is the oak pollen counts will remain extremely high.

Any rain coming next week?

Increasing moisture will give us sea fog and spotty showers Monday through Thursday. Another strong cold front will pass next Friday and give us another round of storms and even colder temps next weekend.

Could it freeze behind next week’s front?

It is possible that the freeze line will get back into Southeast Texas including the city of Houston. At this time we expect at least three mornings in the 30s to kick off Spring Break with about a 50-50 chance freezing temperatures make it back into some Houston neighborhoods.
