Dallas woman dies after being struck by multiple vehicles on Sam Rayburn Tollway

Authorities are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash involving multiple vehicles over the weekend in Carrollton, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Shortly before 10 p.m. Saturday, emergency crews were dispatched to a crash on Sam Rayburn Tollway, near the Hebron Parkway exit, according to a Sunday news release.

A 30-year-old woman from Dallas, whom the department identified as Quinyonna Janell Richard, was walking on the northbound lanes of the tollway when she was struck by a 2019 Nissan Titan. Multiple other vehicles also struck Richard, who was later pronounced dead at the location, according to the release.

“It’s considered a separate crash every time she got hit,” said Sgt. Josue De La Cerda, a spokesman for the Texas Department of Public Safety in the North Texas region.

The driver of the Nissan was not injured and stayed near the area of the crash, the department said. It is unclear if any other motorists involved stayed at the location, and how many vehicles were involved.

De La Cerda said driver impairment is not currently considered a factor

The ongoing investigation will determine if any criminal charges are filed, he added.
