Man, woman who led Mesquite police on chase Monday afternoon arrested, media reports

A man and a woman were arrested Monday afternoon after they led police on chases near and into Dallas following a traffic stop, according to a KXAS-TV (NBC5) report.

Police have not released the names of the pair who were arrested, and it is unclear what criminal charges they face.

The chase started about 2 p.m. Monday when officers from the Mesquite Police Department tried to stop a car near the intersection of Broadway Boulevard and Interstate 30, the news station reported. The woman, who was driving the car, refused to stop.

She later stopped along the highway and was arrested, according to the news station, which streamed a part of the chase. A man who was with her ran from the area and stole an “unoccupied box truck.” When police tried to pull over the truck, the man refused and led authorities on a second chase.

In video footage of the chase, the man can be see speeding through traffic, sometimes in the wrong direction.

The man was arrested near the intersection of Munger Boulevard and Junius Street in Dallas, where he abandoned the truck, the news station reported.

Mesquite police did not immediately respond to requests for information.
