13-year-old White Settlement student faces terroristic threat charge after Instagram video

A 13-year-old boy in White Settlement was taken into custody Wednesday morning and is accused of making a threatening video with a BB gun, according to police.

White Settlement police Chief Christopher Cook tweeted that the teen had shared a video on social media in which he flashed what investigators believe was an airsoft gun and threatened a fellow student at Brewer Middle School.

The unnamed teen is facing a terroristic threat charge, according to Cook’s tweet.

In a letter addressed to parents, the White Settlement school district said a coach learned of an Instagram video that involved a juvenile “pointing a firearm and making references about another middle school student.”

The other student’s family has been notified of the situation, the letter stated.

“We will not tolerate social media posts that threaten other students, faculty or the community and work closely with White Settlement ISD to mitigate these types of incidents,” Cook said in a written statement to parents in the district.

Police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
