A steamy weekend before Sunday’s front passes

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The weak front that gave us a little relief from the heat and humidity Friday will lift back to the north as a warm front Friday night. That means the first half of the weekend will be warm, humid, and breezy.

The good news is, a real deal cold front will pass through on Sunday, and give us great weather for most of next week.

Oak pollen levels remain at extreme levels and will likely climb in the days ahead as the wind speeds pick up and rattle more pollen off the trees.

When can we get some rain to help wash away the pollen?

Houston only has a 20% chance of rain on Sunday when our next cold front arrives. If you do manage to get any rain, it’ll likely be less than a tenth of an inch. We’ll have to wait until St. Patrick’s Day (next Friday) to get a higher chance for more widespread heavy thunderstorms.

How is the weekend looking?

Warm temperatures will return Saturday afternoon as Friday’s front surges back north as a warm front. Highs will leap back into the mid 80s. Another front arriving Sunday morning will usher in lower humidity and cooler temperatures for Monday.

How cool will it get for Spring Break behind Sunday’s cool front?

Monday morning we’ll wake up to temperatures in the 50s and enjoy highs in the low 70s. The coldest morning will come Tuesday with lows in the upper 40s. Highs will again warm into the low 70s. Wednesday brings more delightful temperatures with lows in the 50s and highs in the upper 70s. It will likely warm back up above 80 late in the week ahead of another cool front that could come with higher rain chances on St. Patrick’s Day.
