Waking up to temps in the 50s today with a breezy and cool start to Spring Break

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’re waking up to cooler weather after yesterday’s cold front, with temps in the 50s with wind gusts over 20mph. Afternoon temps will climb to around 70 degrees after morning clouds break and leave us with plenty of sunshine this afternoon. Cool temperatures will continue Tuesday. A fairly strong cold front will arrive early Friday morning with showers and a few storms possible.

Oak pollen levels will likely remain extremely high through at least Thursday.

Will more warm weather return for spring break week?

The warmest weather for spring break was probably this past weekend. Cooler weather will return for Monday and Tuesday. We could see afternoon temperatures back in the 70s for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, but a strong cold front early Friday morning will bring cooler weather next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with afternoon high temperatures in the upper 50s and 60s possible.

When can we get some rain to help wash away the pollen?

There won’t be much rain in the near future. We may see a few sprinkles or light showers in spots Tuesday, but most places will stay dry. Oak pollen is likely to stay extremely high. The next good chance for rain could arrive next Friday morning with a stronger cold front.
