Spring break continues with 60s for highs today, some sun mixed with clouds

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Spring break continues with some sun at times today. There’s a small chance for a sprinkle or light shower Tuesday afternoon or evening, but most areas will stay dry through Wednesday.

A fairly strong cold front will move into Texas and could bring showers and storms late Thursday evening into Friday morning. Next weekend will be quite chilly across southeast Texas.

Oak pollen levels will likely remain extremely high through at least Thursday.

Will more warm weather return for spring break week?

The warmest weather was last weekend, the weather will be quiet today and Wednesday. Temperatures may reach the upper 60s in many areas Tuesday afternoon. We could see afternoon temperatures back in the 70s for Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, but a strong cold front early Friday morning will bring cooler weather next Friday, Saturday, and Sunday with afternoon temperatures in the 50s in many areas.

Is any severe weather possible with the cold front later this week?

There could be thunderstorms Thursday night and Friday morning. The bigger severe weather threat may stay north of the area, but there could be a small threat for a strong or severe storm between about midnight and 6:00 a.m. Friday. Stay tuned. The cold front will bring windy and much cooler weather Friday.

When can we get some rain to help wash away the pollen?

There won’t be much rain in the near future. We may see a few sprinkles or light showers in spots Tuesday, but most places will stay dry. Oak pollen is likely to stay extremely high. The next good chance for rain could arrive next Friday morning with a stronger cold front.
