Severe storms Thursday

A strong storm system will move into Texas on Thursday bringing a couple of rounds of thunderstorms to the area. Some of the storms will be severe late Thursday afternoon and evening.

The first batch of showers and storms is expected to move across parts of North Texas Thursday morning. That will move into East Texas for the afternoon. The second batch of storms will develop during the mid-afternoon west of DFW and move east. These storms will be capable of large hail, perhaps larger than golf balls, damaging wind gusts and even a tornado or two. A cold front moving east across North Texas will sweep the storms off to the east Thursday evening, ushering in colder and windy weather for Thursday night and Friday.

A chilly March pattern will dominate North Texas weather Friday through the weekend with temperatures well below normal. Highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s are expected. It’s possible some locations could experience lows near freezing, especially to the north and west of DFW.
