Teen who admitted to fatally stabbing Uber Eats driver gets 45 years in prison

A teenager who plead guilty to fatally stabbing a food delivery driver in Haltom City when he was 14 years old was sentenced Thursday to 45 years in prison, the Tarrant County district attorney’s office announced.

Officers found Ryan Munsie Graham, 31, of Fort Worth at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Northern Cross Boulevard the night of Jan. 23, 2021. The mother of three was fatally stabbed in the neck and left “unresponsive, in a pool of blood,” the DA’s office said.

Zak Marshall, 17, and a juvenile, whose identity authorities have not released, were detained in connection with the attack. They later said they wanted to steal Graham’s car but couldn’t find the keys, according to prosecutors.

Marshall was certified as an adult. His accomplice plead guilty to aggravated robbery last year and is serving a seven-year sentence in the Texas Juvenile Justice Department, according to prosecutors.

“This was a brutal, senseless murder,” prosecutor Rose Anna Salinas said in a written statement.

During Thursday’s sentencing hearing, Marshall apologized for his actions.

“I’m sorry she was the one who had to experience my anger for things that had nothing to do with her,” he said, according to the DA’s office.

Suzanne Munsie, Graham’s mother, addressed Marshall and said she was glad he was sentenced to 45 years in prison, adding that he had “destroyed everything.”

“I don’t want to hear about anger,” she said, according to prosecutors. “You made a choice to go out to try to steal a car. You made a choice … to stab her in the neck with a knife. Who does that?”
