Chilly Saturday night and back in the 50s Sunday afternoon

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — We’ll see a cool and cloudy night with temperatures dropping into the 40s. We’ll climb back in the 50s Sunday with some breaks in the clouds possible. Monday night will drop into the 30s in many areas of Southeast Texas. Warmer weather won’t return until Tuesday.

Spring begins Monday afternoon, but we’ll finally see temperatures near 70 degrees by Tuesday afternoon.

How much longer is the cold weather hanging around?

Sunday will stay cold with highs in the 50s, but Monday night could be the coldest night of this cold snap. Temperatures could drop to around 35 to 40 degrees in many areas by sunrise Monday. Monday will stay cool with highs in the 50s.

Will my plants be okay in the cold air?

More than likely, yes. We should dodge frost and freezing temperatures, but any cold-sensitive plants, like tropical varieties and newly planted tomato seedlings, will not enjoy the cold. It would be wise to protect them from the cold or bring them inside if possible before Monday morning.

Spring begins Monday. Where is the warmer weather?

Not too far way. High temperatures could be near 70 Tuesday afternoon and closer to 80 degrees by Wednesday and Thursday.

How warm will it get next week?

Temperatures will pump back up toward 80 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons. Another cold front is coming for us on Friday, but it does not look to be as chilly as the one we are currently experiencing.
