Report: Collin County pilot killed in Lubbock County plane crash

A pilot from Collin County was killed after his plane crashed in Lubbock County, according to media reports.

The crash happened shortly before noon near County Road 7300 and 2500, according to Lubbock TV station KRQE. The plane, a twin-engine Beechcraft Baron 58, crashed shortly after takeoff from Lubbock Executive Airpark.

The plane caught on fire and the pilot, later identified as 26-year-old Tyler Blake Christie of Lavon, was unable to escape.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
