Suspect who led Fort Worth officers on chase Wednesday still at large, police say

A suspect who led Fort Worth police on a brief car chase Wednesday evening is still at large, police said.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., officers from the Fort Worth Police Department’s narcotics unit asked for assistance to stop a vehicle authorities believe was involved in drug-related activity near the intersection of East Berry Street and the Martin Luther King Freeway service road, police said.

Authorities tried to stop the suspect vehicle, which was southbound on Wichita Street, about 6:51 p.m. but the driver did not stop and led officers on a chase, police said.

About five minutes into the chase, officers lost sight of the suspect vehicle near the intersection of Vaughn and Martin Luther King boulevards.

During the chase, the driver of the suspect vehicle crashed into a different vehicle near Vaughn Boulevard and Lois Street before driving away, police said. The bystander was not injured, but their vehicle was towed because of the damage caused by the crash, according to police.

Shortly after 7:30 p.m., officers found the suspect vehicle abandoned in the 5100 block of Village Creek Road, and it was impounded, police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
