World-renowned Qari Shakir Qasmi passed away in Canada, his funeral prayers were offered at Burnett Ford Mosque.

Canada: Renowned Qari Shakir Qasmi, who had gained worldwide fame, passed away in Canada. His funeral prayers were held at Burnette Ford Mosque.

According to his nephew, Qari Saeed Qasmi, the grandson of Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanotvi, founder of Darul Uloom Deoband, Qari Shakir Qasmi had been suffering from prolonged illness and passed away at the age of 80 in Canada.

The deceased was the elder brother of late Qari Waheed Zafar Qasmi. He had the honor of reciting the Quran for the first time at the United Nations. Qari Shakir Qasmi initiated a popular program called “Iqra” on Pakistan Television to teach children the Quran. His complete recitation of the Quran is listened to all over the world.

The late Qari Shakir Qasmi was a resident of Canada, and a large number of relatives, scholars, and distinguished personalities attended his funeral prayers. In Dallas, prominent figures of the city expressed their condolences to his nephew , Azher AZ Qasmi.
