Grapevine police arrest Euless man who they say shot woman in road-rage incident

Grapevine police arrested a 30-year-old man Saturday who they say shot a woman on a highway the previous day.

Officers took Brandon Leotta Rutt of Euless into custody on a charge of aggravated assault and booked him into the Grapevine jail. His bail had not been set, and it was unclear whether he had an attorney.

A 27-year-old woman was entering the southbound lanes of Highway 121 from Bass Pro Drive Friday about 7:15 a.m. Friday when she and a man in another vehicle became involved in a road-rage incident, police said.

Police said the man fired a small pistol at her. The bullet went through her neck, but she was able to pull over on the shoulder while the man drove away. Her injuries weren’t believed to be life-threatening.

Using information from the woman and a witness, officers obtained surveillance video of the vehicle involved in the shooting, police said. They also located more evidence near Rutt’s home following his arrest, according to police.
