Houston Iftar Dinner Hosted by HSC & SCH. Welcomes Mayor Turner and Other Dignitaries to Accommodate Over 2300 Guests for Iftar

Houston:, as every year, hosted the grand Houston Iftar Dinner, which was organized in partnership with Houston Sister Cities and the City of Houston. The 24th annual Iftar dinner, held at the Bayou City Event Center, accommodated over 2300 individuals for the iftar. The special guests at the Iftar dinner were Mayor of Houston Sylvester Turner, along with members of Congress Sheila Jackson Lee and Al Green, prominent Pakistani businessman Jawaid Anwar, and diplomats and government officials from over two dozen Muslim and non-Muslim countries, who also paid tribute to Mayor Turner for his services on his completion of tenure in December.
Governor of Texas Greg Abbott’s video message of Ramadan greetings to Muslims was also shown at the Iftar dinner. Mayor Turner was praised for his commendable services by Congressman Al Green, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, and was presented with commendation certificates at the Iftar dinner.
The coordinator of the Iftar dinner, Saeed Sheikh, welcomed the guests and expressed his gratitude to the sponsors, Houston Sister Cities and the City of Houston, for organizing the grand Houston Iftar Dinner, which is held every year, and accommodates over 2300 individuals for the iftar.
