2 dead, 1 wounded following shooting in Murphy neighborhood, city manager says

Two people died Monday evening after a shooting at a home in Murphy, a city in Collin County, city officials confirmed.

A third person who was injured is believed to be responsible for the shooting, Murphy City Manager Mike Castor said.

Castor did not provide information related to the three people. It is unclear if the shooter, whose name authorities have not released, knew the two people who were killed.

Around 6:15 p.m., officers were dispatched to a home on Whisperfield Drive, where officers found the three people, Castor said. Murphy is about 8 miles north of Garland and 25 miles northeast of downtown Dallas.

There is no danger to the public, Castor added.

“It’s a very fluid situation,” Castor said.
