Stay weather aware as storms are forecast to begin Thursday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Our weather will be pleasant and mostly dry through the Thursday morning drive. Scattered showers and storms will pop up during the afternoon. If a warm layer of stable air in the atmosphere called a cap breaks, severe storms could form, especially west of Houston.

The most intense line of storms will roll through late Thursday night after midnight.

Is severe weather a possibility and what form would it take?

An isolated severe storm with hail and high winds is possible Thursday afternoon, but it’s much more likely Thursday night when the main line passes. Some brief street flooding and lightning will also be a possibility with the storms.

Will this front bring cooler weather?

It will bring down temperatures a bit for the weekend with highs in the low to mid 70s. In addition to slightly cooler air, it will be drier Saturday with a lot more sunshine in the forecast.
