Storms end overnight, strong winds expected Saturday

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A line of thunderstorms that brought severe weather to parts of Southeast Texas is moving deeper into the Gulf of Mexico, and that ends the threat of severe weather for the night. We should be mostly dry by sunrise Saturday, but a few pockets of rain and an isolated rumble of thunder are still possible during the morning. Temperatures will cool off into the 50s then only rebound into the upper 60s as clouds linger for most.

It’s also going to be rather windy with sustained winds as 20-30 mph and gusts up to 40 mph.

What does the rest of the weekend look like?

With the winds settling down Saturday night, sunday morning starts off cool and crisp with lows in the low 50s. It will feel nearly perfect outside all day Sunday with that low humidity and afternoon highs in the low 80s.

Is there any more severe weather coming next week?

It’s possible, but too soon to say at this time. The work week will start just like the weekend finished: Sunny with low humidity and pleasant temps. You’ll feel the moisture levels rising Tuesday as the Gulf breeze picks up, and thunderstorm chances return for the latter half of the week as upper air disturbances roll over the warm, humid air. It will be getting warmer with highs possibly hitting 90 by the end of the week!
