Storms possible the next two nights, but it’s all about the heat during the day

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The warm, sticky air sticks around Friday, and when you factor in temperatures nearing 90 in the afternoon, heat index values will approach 100-degrees. Despite the high humidity, the rain chance during the day is only 20%. It’s in the evening and overnight hours when storm chances rise a thunderstorm complex blows in from the west. There is a small chance these storms could pack severe wind gusts of 60 mph and quarter size hail.

After this complex of storms clears Southeast Texas, it should be mostly dry and hot for Saturday.

What else can we expect for the weekend?

There is a small chance for thunderstorms both days with little difference in temperatures. Lows will be in the low 70s with highs in the upper 80s to near 90. Saturday will feel particularly hot with a heat index near 100-degrees! Sunday’s rain chance is currently at 30%. Any storm that pops up will be strong and could turn severe.

Are anymore cold fronts on the way?

We don’t have any in our 10 day forecast, but we do have a growing chance for cooling downpours next week!
