Police investigate, absences excused after reported threats to Frisco ISD campuses

Police are investigating after reported threats to multiple Frisco ISD campuses on social media, school officials announced Sunday.

In a letter addressed to parents in the district, Frisco ISD Superintendent Mike Waldrip said the threat was made toward some of the district’s middle school and high schools. Student absences at the district will be excused Monday, Waldrip said in the letter.

“After this past weekend’s events at the Allen Outlet Mall, and an incident at Stonebriar Mall, we understand that safety concerns are high in our community, especially when it comes to our students,” Waldrip wrote.

Frisco police did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Crime in The NewsThe threat made to Frisco ISD follows at least two similar incidents at other North Texas school districts.

Azle police have said officers Friday responded to a threat at Azle High School after “an unknown male said he was armed with weapons inside the high school.”

The campus was placed on lockdown, but officers found no evidence of a threat.

Azle police and school district authorities are investigating, the department has said.

Lake Worth ISD announced on its Facebook page that one of its campuses was also threatened Friday. Lake Worth police were called to investigate the threat, which turned out to be false, the district said in its post.
